Harris Anasson is a registered psychologist with AHPRA and a full member of the Australia Psychological Society. She is an endorsed forensic psychologist and an approved Specialist Counsellor with Victims Services NSW. She has worked as a psychologist, counsellor and case manager for over 15 years, assisting adults in clinical, forensic and private practice settings.
Harris has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of a variety of clinical conditions including adjustment, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress. She can also assist people with the management of stress, grief/loss, addictive behaviours and provide specific skills training in such areas as relationships, communication, assertiveness and effective problem solving.
Harris also has a special interest in working with individuals who experience emotional regulation difficulties, who may have vulnerable personality traits, who engage in deliberate self-injury or are at risk of suicide.
Harris is trained in number of evidence based therapeutic modalities including cognitive behaviour therapy, brief solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, interpersonal therapy, mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
She is eclectic in her approach and applies modalities that are best suited to your unique needs and personal preferences. She works collaboratively with you to develop individualised treatment plans and to empower you to achieve your personal goals. Her practise philosophy for psychological intervention is founded on the importance of an authentic therapeutic relationship and genuine compassion for patients.
